Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Mea mobile application ("Mea," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app. Mea is operated by Mea Collections LLC.

By using Mea, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Who we are

Mea is a personal collections app. It lets you catalog things you care about: keepsakes, sneakers, handbags, vacations, and more, organized into collections of items with photos and details. You can optionally share collections and items with other people who follow you.

2. Information we collect

We collect various data:

Account information

Your email address
A username and display name

Content you create

Photos and images you upload for your items and collections
Text and details you add, such as collection and item names, nicknames, descriptions, dates, locations, the names of people you associate with an item, and freeform tags or other metadata

Social activity

Who you follow and who follows you, the collections and items you choose to share, likes, and any users you block or content you report
Notifications generated by activity from people you follow

Technical information

Basic information necessary to operate the app, keep it secure, and send notifications

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the app and its features
Store and sync your collections and items across your sessions and devices
Authenticate you and send account-related email (for example, one-time codes and password resets)
Enable social features you choose to use, such as sharing, following, likes, and notifications
Keep the app safe: for example, to enforce our Terms, respond to reports, and prevent abuse
Improve the app, provide future services, and earn revenue in various ways

4. How your information is shared

With other people, when you choose to share. Content stays private to you by default. When you share a collection or item, it becomes visible to the people who follow you, and details you post appear in their stream and notifications. If you stop sharing a collection, new items will no longer be posted, though content already shared may remain visible to people who previously received it.

With service providers who help us run Mea. We use trusted third parties to provide core infrastructure. They process data only to provide their services to us:

Supabase: authentication, database, and file storage.
Cloudinary: image hosting and processing.
Resend: sending account and security emails.
Apple: app distribution through the App Store and TestFlight.

We may use anonymized data for various other purposes also.

For legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or us.

5. Product development, AI, and monetization

We may use information to operate, develop, and improve Mea and to build new features and services. This includes using aggregated or de-identified data (data that does not identify you) to understand how the app is used and to develop, evaluate, and train machine-learning and AI models that power current and future features.

We may also introduce new revenue streams over time, including paid features, subscriptions, in-app purchases, and advertising. If we begin showing ads or working with advertising or analytics partners, we will update this Policy and provide any choices required by law, including, on iOS, requesting permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency where applicable.

6. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your content at any time. If you delete your account, we remove your collections, items, and associated content from our active systems. Some information may persist for a limited period in backups, and content you previously shared may remain visible to people who already received it. 7. Your choices and rights

You can:

Access and edit your collections, items, profile, username, and display name in the app.
Delete individual items, collections, or your entire account.
Stop sharing a collection so new items are no longer posted ("un-share").
Block users or report content.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, including access controls and encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's privacy

Mea is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it.

10. Where your information is processed

Mea is operated from the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, you understand your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice. Your continued use of Mea after an update means you accept the revised Policy.
